PEDIBUS "BY THE ROPE"

After two experimental years, Gallarate’s pupils are currently walking to school in two different periods of the year: from Mid-October to the Christmas holidays and from April to the end of school year.
The experimental phase initially involved only one school, and now includes (in various forms) many other Institutes in the city. All the related information and documentation you can find in google by typing in PEDIBUS GALLARATE, or clicking on http://www.nogaspass.blogspot.com/ . This website has been, over time, a useful tool to explain to new pedibus users and their parents the idea and the motivation behind our way of going to school on foot. As well as helping us to organize the service with parent-rotas, it also provides weather forecasts for the Gallarate area!
If on a sunny day you can see the snowy peaks of Monte Rosa (favoured mountain climber destination) from Gallarate, you can also see groups of children “roped together” walking in line through the city towards the Dante primary school. Each child wears a fluorescent orange jacket and has a meter of customized rope ending in a snaplink. At the meeting station or an intermediate stop each child hooks on to the end forming a long line.
As in the mountains, no one can be detached from it, and this reassures parents, who see the Pedibus’ four lines crossing the city to the school. What do you think of our “walking rope”?

PS. Presto leggeremo questa presentazione del pedibus sul sito di IWALKTOSCHOOL: il nostro pedibus "fa scuola" anche all'estero!
